Now lets come to the point, for importing goods in Bangladesh you must have to follow these steps for customs clearing.
Steps No.1
If you Import your product by shipping agent then shipping agent will submit their manifest containing the description of goods to the port customs authority via electronic communication.
If you import your goods via truck using Land Customs authority then truck transport company or its driver will submit a IGM (import general manifest) to the land customs authority.
Steps No.2
once this IGM is submitted via online the mentioned C&F Agent or the importer himself will have to complete the goods declaration which is known as bill of entry. all this online submission will be done via ASYCUDA world software. this declaration has to be made in a specific format which is known as single administrative document.
Along with Bill of Entry declaration you have to submit following documents to release your goods from the customs department.
after submitting all the documents customs will check those documents. and then they will asses the customs tariff. On payment of duties and taxes assessed, Customs issues release order for clearance and after completion of port formalities, goods are cleared.
